Duncan MacConnol

Director

Duncan started his career in Sales at Unilever’s Elida Gibbs and quickly advanced to various commercial roles ranging from Business Account Manager on Boots, Brand Manager on Sure deodorant and Category Trade Manager on Unilever’s Skin & Bath Care portfolios. He joined PepsiCo in 1994 as Business Development Controller with responsibility for the effective relationship management of Britvic Soft Drinks. He helped establish Britvic’s Customer Marketing Department, ultimately becoming Business Development Director responsible for all channels within the newly created Europe and Sub-Sahara Business Unit. In 1997 Duncan joined United Biscuits as Customer Marketing Controller for McVitie’s. He was responsible for the creation of the Biscuit Category Vision, adopted across the business which ultimately resulted in McVities winning the prestigious European Gold P.O.P.A.I award. Duncan completed his time at UB as Customer Marketing Director across the combined Biscuit and Snacks teams.

Having joined Glendinning in 2001, Duncan spent three years in Australia where he set up and led the Glendinning practice in Sydney. Duncan is now the Board member responsible for Glendinning Europe.

Duncan benefits from both a Sales and Marketing background and has a wealth of experience within Customer and Channel Marketing. He is highly regarded as a leading player in the development of Category thinking across a diverse range of blue chip clients. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences and is a co-author of E.C.R UK’s Range Selection and Merchandising Process guide.

When not spending time with his family, Duncan’s hobbies include music, golf, cricket and reading.
